Remembering Those Lost:
Azerbaijan Airlines and Jeju Air
It has been a devastating week for the aviation industry. On December 25th, Azerbaijan Airlines flight 8243 crashed in Kazakhstan. The E190 aircraft was carrying 67 passengers when it crashed outside the city of Aktau. Thirty-eight people perished in the crash. The aircraft was scheduled from Baku in Azerbaijan to Grozny in Russia.
Yesterday, further devastation occurred with the crash of Jeju Air Flight 2216 upon landing in Muan, South Korea. As of this writing, a total of 179 of the 181 people on board the Boeing 737-800 were killed, and the two survivors are believed to be Flight Attendants.
APFA Employee Assistance (EAP) is always available to help Flight Attendants process these tragedies. Our hearts are with the families and friends of those lost.
