12.30.24 – Post Flight Security Checks and Final Walk-Throughs

Post Flight Security Checks
and Final Walk-Throughs
They Look Out for YOU!

Monday, December 30, 2024

APFA Safety & Security is seeing an increase in minimum crew violations involving a passenger inadvertently left onboard the aircraft after the crew has deplaned. Passengers are generally found sleeping in a window seat or using an aircraft lavatory.

Per Cabin ASAP data – All events were due to post-flight security checks and FA 1/Purser final walk-throughs not being completed.

What you can do:

Prioritize post-flight security checks and final walk-throughs of the entire cabin.

These procedures are required to ensure that no passenger is ever left onboard. Check lavatories, and make sure no passengers are sleeping in or under seats. This is a critical final check to confirm that no one has been overlooked, and this ensures that you and your crew aren’t at risk of violating a FAR.

APFA SSD Webpage – Minimum Crew and FAR Quick Reference Guide

Please keep in mind that the post flight security check is a requirement of allcrew members, and the post flight final walk-through is a requirement of all FA 1/Pursers. Please reference 3.9.1 Post-Flight Duties in the IFM for more information about these procedures and the company policy.

Remember – even if the rest of your crew gives an “all clear,” please conduct these procedures to ensure you are covered!

Leaving passengers on the aircraft unattended is a significant safety and security concern and we appreciate everyone’s shared efforts in ensuring this doesn’t happen. If you or your crew are ever involved in a minimum crew violation, we highly recommend filing a Cabin ASAP report detailing what occurred, and what steps were followed or omitted.

Thank you for your continued dedication to safety and security. Should you happen to have any questions about this issue or about the FARs that affect Minimum Crew requirements, please reach out to us at [email protected].
