3.08.25 – AFGE-TSA Collective Bargaining Rights Under Attack

AFGE-TSA Collective Bargaining Rights
Under Attack

Saturday, March 8, 2025

APFA, standing alongside our Union Siblings at AFGE, is outraged by the reckless decision to terminate the labor agreement and violate the collective bargaining rights of 47,000 Transportation Security Officers. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem’s actions, coupled with the Administration’s dangerous cuts to vital aviation infrastructure, put air travel and national security at risk—endangering the lives of crewmembers, passengers, and the American public.

This action is not about efficiency, safety, or homeland security – this is an outright attack on Unions.

AFGE National President Everett Kelley issued the following statement:

“47,000 Transportation Security Officers show up at over 400 airports across the country every single day to make sure our skies are safe for air travel. Many of them are veterans who went from serving their country in the armed forces to wearing a second uniform protecting the homeland and ensuring another terrorist attack like Sept. 11 never happens again.”

The aviation industry depends on our Union Siblings at AFGE every day to keep us safe. This unjustified attack on their fundamental rights as American workers must stop. When safety professionals like TSA agents are treated fairly and can raise safety concerns without fearing retaliation, we are all safer and more secure.

“Air travel remains the safest mode of transportation in the United States. This blatant attack threatens not only the rights of TSA workers but also the security of workers nationwide. Our skies cannot remain safe without support for our Transportation Security Officers, who serve as a critical line of defense. We cannot afford to take their role—or our safety—for granted.”-Julie Hedrick, APFA National President
APFA will continue to fight for collective bargaining rights for all working people, and particularly those tasked with keeping aviation safe.
