3.08.25 – Daylight Saving Time 2025: It’s Time to Spring Forward

Daylight Saving Time 2025:
It’s Time to Spring Forward
Saturday, March 8, 2025

Daylight Saving Time (DST) starts for most of the U.S. tomorrow, Sunday, March 9, at 2:00 AM local time.
U.S. Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) introduced the Sunshine Protection Act of 2025 (S.29) in January. Companion legislation was also introduced in the House in January as H.R.139 by Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-FL16).This legislation aims to officially “lock the clock” by ending the biannual time change and establishing Daylight Saving Time as the national standard throughout the year. Congress has attempted to pass similar bills in the past, but these efforts have not been successful.
States can exempt themselves from Daylight Saving Time, meaning they stay in standard time for the entire year. Most of Arizona (except for the Navajo Nation), Hawaii, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands do not observe Daylight Saving Time.
Daylight Saving Time ends on the first Sunday of November each year. This year, clocks will “fall back” on Sunday, November 2.
