Contract Implementation Update #19

Sit Rig
CBA 11.D.6

On April 1st, 2025, Sit Rig (CBA section 11.D.6) will be implemented. Sit Rig provides one (1) minute of flight pay for every two (2) minutes of sit time beyond the first two (2) hours and thirty (30) minutes of sit time. This pay is based on the actual sit time in a sequence and will not apply to ODANs.

How is the new Sit Rig Calculated?

After your sequence has completed, your actual sit time will show in your Crew Portal sequence information and in your HI3 in DECS.

Sit Rig Calculation:

(Actual sit time – 2 hours and 30 minutes) / 2 =  additional flight pay due to Sit Rig

Example:

In the sequence below, the original sit time was scheduled two (2) hours and thirty-two (32) minutes. Due to a delayed departure of flight 2899 from PHL to RSW, the actual sit time in PHL was four (4) hours and seventeen (17) minutes.

Ground time displayed in Crew Portal:

Ground time displayed in HI3:

Sit Rig is paid for the time beyond the first two (2) hours and thirty (30) minutes of sit.

Using the actual sit time of 4.17 above, you must subtract the first two (2) hours and thirty (30) minutes of sit time:

4.17 – 2.30 = 1 hour and 47 minutes.

Sit Rig is 1 minute of pay for each 2 minutes of sit, so the remaining sit time must be divided by two:

1.47/ 2 = 53 minutes

This Flight Attendant would earn 53 minutes of additional flight pay with the new Sit Rig.

How is Sit Rig Tracked?

Initially, the company will not have a tool available to track Sit Rig pay. Please reach out to your Crew Manager directly for help understanding your Sit Rig pay. You may file a Direct Connect if you feel your Sit Rig was paid incorrectly.

The company has committed to creating a tool and providing Sit Rig history back to April 1st, 2025. Once the tool to track is available, you will still be able to file a Direct Connect to dispute any discrepancies.

There will be more information from the company in the next few weeks on how Sit Rig will appear on your pay stub.

Q & A

Q1: What is considered “sit”?

Sit is the ground time between flights. If your flight cancels, it will be the time between your last flight’s arrival and your release. Sit time is not the time between report and your first flight of the day.

Q2: How will Sit Rig be paid if my second flight cancels or delays until the next day?

If your second flight cancels or delays until the next day, your sit time would be the time between your last flight’s arrival and your release time.

Q3: If I take an alternate deadhead (CBA 16.G and 16.H), how is my Sit Rig be paid?

When you take an alternate deadhead at the end of on your sequence, your Sit Rig will be based on the scheduled sit time.

Q4: How is Sit Rig paid when I drop my Last Live Leg?

If you drop your Last Live Leg, your Sit Rig will be paid based on the scheduled sit time at the time of the Last Live Leg drop.

Q5: What do I do if my Sit Rig is incorrect?

Please be sure to fill out a Direct Connect to dispute all pay discrepancies.

Q6: I was scheduled to sit for four hours and in actual operations, I only sat two hours due to a delay. How much Sit Rig will I receive?

Because Sit Rig is based on your actual sit time, your Sit Rig would be based on the two hour sit time. You would not earn any Sit Rig as the sit is less than two and a half hours.

Q7: Do I receive sit rig with a dayroom?

Yes. If your sit time is beyond two and a half hours, you will earn Sit Rig even if you go to a hotel during your sit time. This does not apply to scheduled hotels on ODANs.

Q8: We boarded our second flight of the day and delayed due to mechanical before deplaning and switching aircraft. How much am I paid for Sit Rig? My ground time shows as five (5) hours and thirty (30) minutes.

Your Sit Rig will be based on the ground time shown your sequence. In this case, the five (5) hours and thirty (30) minutes of ground time would trigger Sit Rig as it is beyond two and a half hours. Using the Sit Rig formula at the beginning of this hotline, pay in this scenario would be as follows:

Using the actual sit time of 5.30, you must subtract the first two (2) hours and thirty (30) minutes of sit time:

5.30 – 2.30 = 3 hours.

Sit Rig is 1 minute of pay for each 2 minutes of sit, so the remaining sit time must be divided by two:

3.00/ 2 = 1 hour 30 minutes

This Flight Attendant would earn 1 hour and 30 minutes of additional flight paywith the new Sit Rig.
