5.29.25 – FA Position 10 on Extended Long Range Flights

FA Position 10 on
Extended Long Range Flights
Thursday, May 29, 2025
A company communication on May 21st stated that position 10 on extended long-range flights on the 777-200, 787-8, and 787-9 would move from main cabin to business class effective June 2nd. The following flights were impacted by management’s decision:
- PHL – DOH
- JFK – HND
- JFK – DEL
- DFW – PVG
- DFW – ICN
Many of us bid specific position(s) based on the aircraft and cabin in which we work. This change was not effectively communicated to the Flight Attendants prior to bidding.
Upon learning of this abrupt change, APFA began immediate discussions with management concerning the decision and the lack of communication to Flight Attendants. The company has agreed to reverse this decision and, beginning with the July bid month, position 10 on impacted flights will return to working in the main cabin.
Because PBS has already processed and there have already been multiple TTS runs, position 10 on these flights will temporarily work in business class for the month of June. Starting with the July bid month, position 10 will return to working in main cabin.
The decision to change the cabin service assignment for position 10 was made without consulting APFA or any frontline Flight Attendants. This is the second time in the short span of a few weeks that decisions concerning position assignments have been reversed following pushback from APFA and Flight Attendants.
These recent company errors with regard to position assignments come at the same time as management’s decision to reinstate the second beverage service on flights over 1500 miles without an increase in catering supplies and Flight Attendant staffing. As we shared in a previous hotline, this decision on the second beverage service contradicts sworn testimony made at last year’s staffing arbitration.
The Inflight leadership responsible for these decisions includes:
- Heather Garboden, Senior Vice President, Chief Customer Officer:Â [email protected]
- Bobbi Wells, Vice President, Inflight:

Management still must hear directly from each Flight Attendant. You are dealing with the real impacts of staffing cuts, inadequate service tools, and growing concern that our airline is falling further behind the competition.
Please continue to send reports regarding staffing and inadequate supplies via your My Flight app prior to closing out each flight.
