Update: 2025-2026 CQ Module Length
Earlier this year, Flight Attendants began reporting that the 2025-2026 CQ web-based training (WBT) modules exceed the contractual limit for distance learning. APFA sent a communication and created a form for Flight Attendants to document the actual time required to complete the CQ web-based training.
Based on the data you provided, APFA presented evidence to the company that substantiates the excessive time it is taking Flight Attendants to complete the CQ WBT. As a result of the pushback from APFA and Flight Attendants, management has removed some content from the 2025–2026 CQ WBT. APFA will ensure that these changes comply with the contract language.
To measure whether these changes effectively reduce the time needed to complete all modules, please continue to submit the CQ WBT Completion Times Report Form. The form, along with instructional videos, may be found here:
CQ WBT Completion Times Report Form
The form will include the space for you to provide the following information:
- Time it took to complete each CQ module
- Link to upload screenshots of completion times from the Learning Hub
- Date you started work on your modules
- Date you completed your modules
- Date you attended/will attend CQ
In order to capture accurate completion times, you should log out of the module if you need to step away for any reason. Once you are ready to resume the module, you should log back in. Within the link to the CQ WBT Completion Times Report Form we have included videos with step-by-step instructions on capturing the actual completion times, as well as logging in and out of the modules.
For Flight Attendants who completed the 2025–26 CQ modules prior to this update, we will be addressing the extended completion timeframe with management.
Q2 2025 WBT 787-9P Suite Clarification
APFA has identified an issue with the language contained in the 2nd quarter WBT, specifically under the section 787- 9P Suite Service Procedures, Inflight – First Customer Interaction: 12–15 minutes after the end of Sterile Flight Deck (10,000 feet).
The statement instructing Flight Attendants to “offer to retrieve hand luggage for customers who may have stowed it in the overhead” is in direct conflict with established policy in the Inflight Manual (IFM), which states that Flight Attendants are to assist customers in placing carry-on items into overhead bins, not handle them alone. More importantly, this language disregards protections clearly outlined in CBA Section 34.R., which states:
“A Flight Attendant will not be required to lift, or assist in the lifting of weight which, in the Flight Attendant’s best judgment, could result in an injury on duty.”
Instructing or encouraging Flight Attendants to retrieve multiple pieces of hand luggage from overhead bins creates unnecessary risk of injury and directly conflicts with both the CBA and the IFM. Management has agreed to revise this language in our manuals.
However, removing it from the current WBT would require a reset of the online training, which may cause Flight Attendants to lose work done on modules in progress. Therefore, the language will be updated after the WBT officially closes.
