Reserve Last Sequence / Last Series (10.L.6)
When a Reserve has no further Reserve obligation in the month, whether it be due to calling out of time or on a block of days off through the end of the month, their last ETB sequence or series of ETB sequences with no calendar days off in between will be pay protected under CBA 10.L.6.
Reserve ETB Release Time Changes (10.G.4.e)
The CBA contains an adjustment to CBAÂ 10.G.4.e. If you pick up an ETB sequence on your reserve days off, the sequence must release by 1600 HBT prior to starting Reserve duty the following day. This is a change from 1800 HBT. This new requirement will apply for all ETB sequences on Reserve days off for the October 2025 contractual month and onward.
Why the change?
This provision was negotiated and ratified in the CBA to comply with the 10-hour FAR increased rest requirement. Along with this change came significant improvements for Reserves—such as the ability to trade days off in TTS, Last Series/Last Sequence protection, and the use of TTS/UBL on Reserve days off to enhance Reserve flexibility and earning potential.
Reserve Trading Days Off in TTS (12.C.2.c)
TTS will now allow a Reserve to trade their days off with the company, replacing the need to call Crew Scheduling. Ballots will be processed in seniority order, and the runs will consider multiple ballots to award as many Reserves as possible.
- Each Reserve request may include:
- Up to three separate requests.
- In each request, you may choose up to six days off to pick up.
- In each request, you may choose up to five choices of groups of days to drop.
- Trading days off must conform to legal Flex Day/ Golden Day patterns and Reserve patterns.
- When trading your days off, Flex Days may adjust on your block of days off to legal placements to maintain a legal pattern.
TTS will process ballots nightly at 2300 HBT and award by 0400 HBT the following morning. To trade a day off, you must submit your ballot no later than 2300 HBT two days prior to the requested day to trade.
- Example: To trade the 23rd of October, your ballot must be submitted by 2300 HBT on the 21st of October. You may not trade the 22nd of October in the 21st run.
An important difference from Lineholder TTS is that a Reserve may only be awarded one request per TTS run. Make sure to rank your most important trade as your first request to ensure you receive your most desired trade if possible.
For the October 2025 contractual month only, the bidding timeline for trading days off will be adjusted to the following:
- Ballots open at 1200 DFW time on the 24th of September.
- First run for October will be at 2300 HBT on the 29th of September.
After October, the bidding timeline will be:
- Ballots open at 1200 DFW time on the 20th of the month for the upcoming contractual month.
- First run for the next month will be on the 24th at 2300 HBT the month prior and award no later than 0400 HBT the following morning.
- Example: On October 20th at 1200 DFW time, TTS Trading Days Off ballots will open for November contractual month. The first run for November will occur on October 24th at 2300 HBT and award no later than 0400 HBT on the 25th of October.
When navigating to TTS, you will now see the new option on the top right of the calendar to Request GD/FD Trade:
This will take you to the Request showing your current Golden Days (GD) and Flex Days (FD):
Click on the calendar days you are requesting to change to a day off. Once you have selected your desired days off, click Choose drop days to set your choice of days off to drop in exchange:
You may now select your first choice of GD/FDs to trade for your preferred days off. After selecting your first choice, you may add another choice or save your request:
TTS will not allow you to enter a duplicate choice if you have already selected these days off in a choice prior:
After clicking Save Request, you will be taken to the Ballot page where you may review your ballot and edit or save:
Ballot Run History is available for Reserves and will display your reasons for trading awards or denials. Click on the run you would like to view to see detailed information on your award or denial reasons:
Below is an example of a denial that would result in less than three (3) days on Reserve:
The Ballot Updates History has been enhanced with a Reserve tab to keep record of each ballot update when saved in the system:
We will be covering the following items in Part II of our Reserve Updates:
- 12.Q.10 Standby Callout Report
- 12.P.5 ROTD Notification after RAP has begun
