A new bidding property for Reserves is almost ready for implementation! Block of Reserve Days Off (CBA 10.D.13.d.46)  allows a Reserve Flight Attendant to bid for a block of days off, regardless of where this block would fall in the month. This new property will allow you to tell PBS “I would like eight days off together, no matter where they fall in the month,” and this will be awarded if available at your seniority.

Property Details

This property can be used in each Layer of PBS when bidding Reserve as well as in conjunction with specific days off. Under the RSV Days Off tab, this property will appear on each Layer. If you would like to bid this property in multiple layers, you may do so by clicking the Layer drop-down.

You may select a number of days off ranging from two to eight. PBS will attempt to award the number of days off consecutively in the layer you have requested.

If you use a specific day off bid in conjunction with this property in the same layer, PBS will first attempt to award the specific day off prior to your requested block of days off. This ensures that when you need that specific day off, you can still use this property without jeopardizing your plans.

With this new property, reserve days off awards are still required to follow the contractual pattern rules in CBA 10.D.16.b, including Flex Day/Golden Day patterns. Refer to APFA.org for additional information on pattern rules.

Mock Bidding Details

To provide additional testing for this property and a chance to familiarize yourself, a mock bid will be open on September 16th for Reserve Flight Attendants to bid and receive a mock award.

While any Flight Attendant may enter a bid in the mock run, only Flight Attendants with a Reserve status on their PBS dashboard will receive a mock award.

If you bid Reserve in the live PBS run, this bid will be imported into the mock system to allow you to adjust your real bid with the new property.

We encourage you to take this opportunity to play with the system and try out this new property or other strategies for Reserve PBS bidding. This is one of the rare opportunities to put in a bid and not worry about flying the resulting line.

PBS Reserve Mock Bidding Timelines

A special Mock Bid Support Tab option will be available to allow you to submit questions or potential misawards from the mock run. If you need to submit a support ticket, please go to Crew Portal > Links > SupportTab > Select PBS as the system > Form type RSV Mock. These will be reviewed by the company’s PBS team and shared with APFA so we can identify any potential defects before this property goes live in October to be used for the November bid month.
