This morning, APFA National President Julie Hedrick sent a letter to the members of the National Mediation Board (NMB) requesting that APFA and the Company be released into a thirty-day cooling-off period.
Your APFA Negotiating Committee met this week with the Company in federal mediation with the National Mediation Board (NMB). As we indicated in our previous hotline, we have set this week as a deadline for the Company to make significant movement toward reaching an agreement.
Management has gifted themselves handsome bonuses and incentives for company performance, while we continue to work without pay raises since 2019, under pay rates negotiated in 2014. Management must respond meaningfully at the bargaining table this week, or we are prepared to move the process forward.
We are fully prepared to reach an agreement with management, but we are willing to do what it takes to push this bargaining forward, including requesting a release for a strike.
Company negotiators showed up to our last bargaining session in Dallas/Ft Worth with no responses to our comprehensive economic and non-economic packages. In fact, they had no proposals for us.
At our bargaining session at the end of September, we presented management with comprehensive proposals on all remaining non-economic and economic issues. As we have previously reported, we are at the stage of negotiations where we are working to narrow the issues…
Thursday, November 16th will be our next systemwide picketing event! Now more than ever, we need everyone to turn out to show management, the traveling public, and the media that We Are Ready for a contract, and we will do what it takes to secure the contract we’ve earned.
An effective grievance and arbitration process is at the heart of our contract. It’s how we enforce our hard-won contract provisions and make sure any discipline issued is fair and for just cause. That’s why fighting for a better grievance and arbitration system has been one of our key priorities in this round of bargaining.
