Announcing AA/US Interim Cabin Jumpseat Agreement Effective June 20, 2014
Great news! The interim reciprocal jumpseat agreement with US Airways will begin on Friday, June 20. Starting tomorrow, AA Flight Attendants will be able to ride the jumpseat on US Airways metal and US Flight Attendants will be able to ride the jumpseat on American Airlines metal. AA Flight Attendants will still have first priority on AA flights and US Flight Attendants will have first priority on US flights. Each airline will continue to process and issue the jumpseat following their current procedures.
In order to be eligible for the jumpseat on US Airways flights, pre-merger AA Flight Attendants must first do two things:
- First, you need to create a flight listing via myIDTravel
- Second, you must check-in at the gate and complete a Jumpseat Travel Request Form
Please note the order of jumpseat accommodation on US Airways flights is not based on the check-in time reflected on the standby priority list. Rather it is based on the time you get to the gate and the agent receives the jumpseat form for that flight. AA Flight Attendants will be issued the jumpseat after all US Flight Attendants in the order in which the agent receives their jumpseat form at the gate. PSA/Piedmont Flight Attendants will be accommodated after pre-merger American Airlines Flight Attendants followed by Envoy (formerly Eagle) Flight Attendants.
On AA flights, pre-merger American Airlines Flight Attendants will continue to be accommodated first, followed by US Airways Flight Attendants. Envoy Flight Attendants will be accommodated next followed by PSA/Piedmont Flight Attendants.
Please note, due to limitations of the US Airways computer system, pre-merger AA Flight Attendants cannot be issued the jumpseat if traveling under the reciprocal cabinseat agreement. Under the reciprocal cabinseat check-in priority, the system will only issue a passenger seat. Therefore, you must create a flight listing on the MyIDTravel website in order to be eligible for the jumpseat.
