Position 9 Returns to 767 IPD Staffing
As was announced late last week, the company has announced it has restored the #9 position to 767 IPD flights at a Y/C load of 140 effective June 13th. In its letter to APFA, the company cites “the unique challenges associated with the current inflight entertainment (IFE) in business class.” The company stated that this decision is temporary.
As a reminder, the company controls staffing, however, APFA retains the right to grieve any action, including a company-imposed reduction in staffing. In 2002, for example, APFA filed a Presidential Grievance on the company’s decision to remove a Flight Attendant from the 777-200. APFA prevailed in the grievance and the arbitrator ordered a service modification and understaffing back pay for Flight Attendants.
APFA is pleased that the company has returned Position 9 to 767 IPD flights booked at 140+ in Main Cabin. Since June 1, we have already received detailed Flight Attendant reports regarding the IPD service staffed with only eight Flight Attendants. If you worked a 767 IPD Flight with eight flight attendants, please file a report about the increase in work load/decrease in inflight rest to [email protected] as soon as possible.

Jumpseat Assignment Ballot – [email protected]
APFA would like to remind all Flight Attendants that the Jumpseat Assignment Ballot was sent to your mailing address on file with APFA on May 26, 2015. Flight Attendants should have received two separate envelopes. One envelope contains your ballot and Voting Instructions. The second envelope contains Q&As related to the three options from which Flight Attendants have to choose.
If you have not received your ballot, please contact the National Ballot Committee (NBC) at [email protected] or (817) 540-0108, Ext. 8311. The NBC will give you a new 16-digit activation code over the phone. The NBC cannot text or email your activation code and cannot resend your ballot. The National Ballot Committee will be working 7 days a week to assist Flight Attendants with their balloting needs.
You may cast your vote online at https://www.BallotPoint.com/APFA or call (800) 698-3789. All votes must be cast by 10:00 AM Central Time, June 25, 2015. You may vote as many times as you wish, however, only your last vote will count.

Q: I called in sick for an OE trip and it was removed with a code 15. Will I be paid if I have sick hours?
A: Yes, effective May 2nd, 2015 OE’s are eligible for sick pay. Sick pay for OE trips is not automated yet and must be done manually. You will initially see the trip removed with a 15 removal code and unpaid. Pay Comp will have to manually put the SK designator and pay in. If you do not see the adjustment within 3-5 business days, send a HISEND (14) or give Pay Comp a call through VIP-CREW.

Q: We are currently sitting at the gate with the door open, but completely boarded. We have a maintenance delay. Under the new contract, do we get paid for being boarded? Do we have to have the captain put in a code?
A: In JCBA Section 3.D Holding Time: “when the ground time exceeds the scheduled ground time by thirty (30) minutes, a Flight Attendant shall receive seven dollars ($7.00) per hour or fraction thereof…” You should submit a HICLAIM for holding time and no action from the captain is required.

Q: I am looking for some clarification regarding the AIL/UBL. I have read the red book regarding this and it seems typically it would not be subject to the 3% open time limitation (red book 10.e.3.n.i) unless there is a temporary triggering event as explained in 10.e.3.n.i.(a). Is this correct?
A: According to 10.F.1.c, and 10.E.1 yes. A UBL transaction can be denied in the event there is a triggering event (i.e. too much open time on one of the days you’re dropping). Neutral trades are not subjected to the Daily Open Time Limitation, but the Monthly limitation can apply.

Q: Do we receive international override when calling in sick?
A: Yes, in ODCG page 1, International Override applies to paid trip removals (for example: SK, VC, BR, JD, etc.). This is in effect until PBS.

Q: My duty day includes NIPD and domestic legs. If I voluntarily waive duty day maximum, will the domestic or international rule apply?
A: In JCBA Section 14.D, Non-Long Range duty period may include any mix of International or International and Domestic segments. A Flight Attendant crew who agrees to remain on-duty for more than sixteen (16) hours shall receive pay for the duty period at a rate of two hundred percent (200%) including premiums and credit at one hundred percent (100%).
