Update on Sit Rig Pay Dispute for Reserve Flight Attendants
One of the hard-fought provisions we secured in our new contract is sit rig pay. As stated in this May 13th CIC hotline, Management is disputing how this pay is calculated for reserve Flight Attendants on a reserve day who don’t reach the 75-hour monthly reserve guarantee. Management has failed to treat Sit Rig as pay, no credit that is paid in addition to the Reserve Flight Attendant’s guaranteed compensation.
Reserve Flight Attendants:
- If you make guarantee, you are being paid sit rig above guarantee correctly.
- If you are flying on a reserve day off, you are being paid the sit rig above guarantee correctly.
- If you do not make guarantee on reserve, your sit rig is not being paid above guarantee, which is where we have the dispute.
We have engaged in continuous discussions with management to resolve this dispute. As is standard practice with any contractual dispute, we first attempted to settle the issue directly — a step that would have allowed impacted reserve Flight Attendants to receive the pay they are rightfully owed without further delay. Talks have stalled, and we will file a Presidential Grievance. While this step means the issue will now move through the grievance and arbitration process—which can take some time—we remain fully committed to fighting for the pay as intended in the new Collective Bargaining Agreement.
