Wednesday, September 3, 2025

September is National Recovery Month in the United States. It is a month dedicated to raising awareness about substance use disorders, promoting recovery, and celebrating those who have overcome addiction.
Below are two short films just for Flight Attendants showing that recovery is possible and how to support a Flight Attendant in early recovery.

15th Annual FADAP Conference
In August, ten APFA EAP Peer Representatives attended the 15th Annual FADAP Conference.
Marcus Recarte, APFA EAP National Specialist, participated in the panel “Partnerships to Advance the Flight Attendant Well-Being,” alongside representatives from Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and JetBlue.
American Airlines also debuted a new training video on NARCAN, developed in partnership with DFW Flight Attendant Leanne Burdett and Jacob’s Journey. Thanks to Leanne’s tireless advocacy and collaboration, NARCAN will now be included in the medical kits onboard all American Airlines aircraft—an important step forward in supporting the safety and well-being of our crews and passengers.
