8.10.24 – PBS Reminders: Bidding as Both a Lineholder and a Reserve

In PBS, there are certain scenarios where you will want to bid 7 layers as a Lineholder and 7 layers as a Reserve. When PBS processing begins, if additional Lineholders are needed, those with Reserve status will be moved to Lineholder status

This morning an outage caused PBS to be unavailable for an hour from approximately 9:30 am to 10:30 am CT.

3.21.23 – PBS Misaward: Rest Between Trips

Yesterday, management informed APFA of an issue with the new 10-hour FAR rest implemented in December 2022. A review of the April bid awards showed that the new rest requirements were not incorporated into the PBS run.

2.18.23 – March 2023 PBS Bid Award Summary & Mis-Award Process

Each month, the APFA Contract & Scheduling Departments send out a copy of the PBS Bid Award Summary we receive from the company following the completion of the PBS run. The PBS Bid Award Summary provides great information, but its presentation makes it challenging to find what you may be looking for.

12.20.22 – Coverage Needed (CN) Dates – January 2023

Coverage Needed (CN) is a term applied to a day in a bid month when not enough Flight Attendants bid in PBS to fly on that day. PBS will allow as many Flight Attendants to be off on a particular day as possible, whether it is a holiday or not.

12.09.22 – January 2023 Bidding Information

During PBS processing for the January 2023 awards, the holiday logic will be utilized for both Lineholders and Reserves when covering January 1st. If January 1st becomes a Coverage Needed (CN) day at your seniority, it will be weighted as more important than other CN days.
