Last year, your APFA National and Base Leadership secured a Letter of Agreement (LOA) that included permanent contractual improvements to the holiday pay provisions in our JCBA. Just like last year, 2023 Holiday Pay will be paid to all Flight Attendants, both Lineholder and Reserves, working on a designated holiday, regardless of how you obtained the trip.

The Company recently issued a CCI message stating that Flight Attendants may not wear shirts with slogans when deadheading to/from CQ or other training sessions or while attending training. To be clear, a slogan is a distinctive motto, phrase, or statement that conveys a particular message or represents a brand.

As stated in a previous hotline, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Professional Standards, and the Critical Incident Response Program (CIRP) (formerly known as the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT)), will soon be one group working collaboratively to offer seamless support for Flight Attendants.

2.24.23 – Celebrating 30 Years of the Family and Medical Leave Act

February marks the 30th anniversary of the job-protected Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). At its conception, Flight Crews were not eligible because our work hours did not fall under the definition of “hours worked” under the FLSA, making us unable to satisfy the 1,250-hour requirement.

This morning, the FAA Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) system experienced an outage, resulting in a nationwide ground stop. This has caused delays and cancelations for departures and arrivals into and within the United States. As of 0800 CT, the FAA reports that the system is back on line and departures have resumed.

Company IT glitches continue. Yesterday, it was immediately clear that the Reserve Open Time Assignment (ROTA) award for January 1, 2023, was flawed. APFA immediately engaged with the Director of Crew Scheduling and other members of upper management. While we still don’t know what caused the issue, IT has been investigating to determine the root cause.
