5.31.25 – International Flight Attendant Appreciation Day 2025

Today is International Flight Attendant Appreciation Day — a time to recognize and honor the role Flight Attendants play as first responders in the skies.

5.30.25 – CJ Denial for Mainline Weight-Restricted Flights When Priority List Processed Out of Order

We have received reports that Flight Attendants are being denied access to the jumpseat (CJ) on weight-restricted Mainline flights because the standby list is not being cleared in the correct priority order.

5.30.25 – Update: CQ Module Length/ Q2 2025 WBT 787-9P Suite Clarification

Update: 2025-2026 CQ Module Length – Earlier this year, Flight Attendants began reporting that the 2025-2026 CQ web-based training (WBT) modules exceed the contractual limit for distance learning.

5.29.25 – FA Position 10 on Extended Long Range Flights

A company communication on May 21st stated that position 10 on extended long-range flights on the 777-200, 787-8, and 787-9 would move from main cabin to business class effective June 2nd.

5.29.25 – Minutes From the 1Q25 Executive Committee Meeting

The First Quarter 2025 APFA Executive Committee Meeting was held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at APFA Headquarters in Euless, Texas. In accordance with the APFA Policy Manual, the official minutes are now available on APFA.org.

5.26.25 – Memorial Day 2025: Remember and Honor

Memorial Day is an American holiday observed on the last Monday of May, honoring those who died while serving in the U.S. military. Many Americans commemorate this day by visiting cemeteries, holding family gatherings, and participating in parades.

5.22.25 – Contract Implementation Update #28: Deadhead ‘No-Show’ Now Available in ECS

Beginning May 22, 2025, you may now use the ECS (Electronic Communication System) to contact Crew Scheduling and Crew Tracking to no-show your scheduled deadhead. This function is enabled in version 2.1

5.21.25 – APFA Special Board of Directors Meeting Final Agenda for Today

This morning, APFA National President Julie Hedrick called to order the APFA Special Board of Directors Meeting at APFA Headquarters. The assembly approved the Final Agenda.

5.18.25 – Coverage Needed (CN) Dates – June 2025

Coverage Needed (CN) is a term applied to any day in a bid month when not enough Flight Attendants bid in PBS to fly on that day. PBS will award as many Flight Attendants as possible to be off on a particular day.

5.15.25 – APFA Special Board of Directors Meeting Tentative Agenda for May 21, 2025

APFA will hold a Special Board of Directors Meeting on Wednesday, May 21, at APFA Headquarters. In accordance with the APFA Policy Manual, the Tentative Agenda for this meeting is now available on APFA.org.

5.14.25 – AA Returns to Pre-Covid Onboard Services Without Adequate Staffing or Catering Supplies

This week, management announced a return to pre-COVID-19 service procedures despite testifying under oath that the post-pandemic changes were permanent. This reversal calls into question the integrity of American’s management

5.14.25 – Contract Implementation Update #27: PBS Updates/ DH Self-Booking/ CBA Copies Available

New Properties to Bid Speaker Pairings – When bidding for June, you will now have the ability to bid using the property Prefer Language (CBA 10.D.13.d.#15). This new property will allow you to bid for pairings requiring a specific language.

5.13.25 – Contract Implementation Update #26: Tracking Boarding Pay/ Sit Rig Pay Updates

While the company continues development on the tool to allow Flight Attendants to track their boarding pay, an interim solution has been developed. On or around May 13th, you will receive a breakdown to your AA email of your boarding events in April.

5.09.25 – Save the Dates: June 2025 Pride Month Celebrations

It is that time of year again! June is officially Pride month and is celebrated throughout the country with parades in various cities. This year, the APFA Human Rights Coalition will be participating in parades in five bases.

5.06.25 – A Message From Your APFA Board of Directors- Tuesday, May 6, 2025

On January 15th, the APFA Board of Directors advised you they had ordered an independent review of all Section 5.H related housing. That review, conducted by outside counsel George Buckley Jr, Esq., has been completed.

5.06.25 – Q1 2025 APFA Executive Committee Meeting Final Agenda

5.05.25 – Contract Implementation Update #25: Update to Reserve RAP Processing

For the May contractual month, CBA Section 12.K.1.g has been implemented early (targeted for DOS + 12 months). CBA 12.K.1.g details the order of award/assignment in Daily (ROTD) processing for a sequence legal for multiple RAPs.

5.01.25 – Contract Implementation Update #24: Vacation Pay and Credit/ April Reserve Updates

The 2025-2026 vacation year begins tomorrow, May 2nd. In accordance with CBA Section 8.B.1., there is a change in how vacation hours are paid: Flight Attendants with a block of seven (7) or more consecutive vacation days will be paid and credited at four (4) hours

On May 1, 2025, the Company will exercise the option in CBA Section 11.M. to extend all domestic boarding times by five (5) minutes. This includes the contiguous forty-eight states, Canada, and Alaska.

It’s time to register for ECS (Electronic Communication System). This is a new two-way communication system between flight attendants and Crew Scheduling, Crew Tracking and Hotel/Limo Desk. Later this year, this will be the system implementing CBA Section 10.W.

Flight Attendants who have started their 2025-2026 CQ web-based training modules are reporting that the time required to complete the training exceeds the contractual limit.

7.10.26 – CMAP Expands to DFW and ORD on July 12th

The Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) Crewmember Access Point (CMAP) program will continue its phased rollout beginning the week of July 12th, with DFW and ORD joining the growing list of participating airports.

7.08.26 – ROTA/ROTD Acknowledgement Receipts in ECS

We continue to receive reports of reserve acknowledgement issues. In some cases, Reserve Flight Attendants are properly acknowledging assignments in Crew Portal, but are later assessed a missed trip because the acknowledgement was not successfully recorded.

7.07.26 – NASEM: Flight Crewmember Radiation Exposure Requires FAA Action

A new congressionally mandated report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) confirms what APFA Flight Attendants have long known: radiation exposure is an occupational hazard that deserves stronger oversight and protection.
